"And now for something completely different. Luckert's 2023 Sylvaner Creutz *** is from ancient vines planted in 1870 as a field blend of all kinds of Sylvaner, according to the Luckert family. The wine opens with a clear, refined and delicately aromatic bouquet of small yellow fruits intertwined with the weathered limestone, herbs and lemon zest aromas of the vineyard that Luckert rescued about 10 years ago. The wine is elegant and refined as well as playful on the palate and reveals a unique fruit flavor as well as some sweetness. Compared to the also unique Gelbkalk Sylvaner, the Creutz is more on the charming and fruity side and remarkably filigreed. In terms of finesse and friskiness, this is a Sylvaner in the spirit of a Riesling - or at least, the good old times. It's definitely a wine to fall in love with. Incomparable.

Round and juicy on the palate, this is a full-bodied and generous yet elegant and playful, well-balanced Riesling with young and almost greenish yet not unripe grip on the saline and stimulating, lemon-bitter finish. This has good intensity and remarkable elegance."

"The 2023 Sulzfelder Sonnenberg Silvaner -Gelbkalk- 1G is clear, refined and open on the elegant and distinctive, slightly smoky nose that is reminiscent of (pure) chalk and asparagus as well as earthy notes, including mushrooms and leek. Vital and finessed as well as round and juicy on the concentrated and textured palate, this is a medium-bodied Sylvaner with a particular expression and acidity, as if it were another grape, a relative at least, or a blend with Riesling. It is not, but the wine is worth discovering. There is a certain creaminess here but also a finesse and elegance that makes this a unique wine."
